3D Rarities

The fortunes of 3D over the last century have been mixed to say the least, but throughout the ups and downs there have definitely been some winners – many of them now languishing in obscurity. Here we unearth a selection of oddities from the 3D Film Archive, from the controversial anti-atomic testing film Doom Town (mysteriously pulled from cinemas after a few screenings in 1953), to The Adventures of Sam Space, a Puppetoons-style animated short from 1960, with a few surprises in between.

Playing on the theme of expanded dimensions, each of the films will be screened with a live score composed by students at Birmingham Conservatoire, and three will feature new commentaries written and performed live by Graeme Rose, Ed Wakefield and Sarah Hamilton Baker.
