7 Inch Cinema: 17.11

Evening of short films and music, taking place on and inspired by 17th November.

An evening of short films and music, taking place on and inspired by the seventeenth of November. We'll be delving through dusty archives, old microfilms and a fair bit of Wikipedia in order to bring you superlative entertainment devoted to one apparently insignificant day. To give some idea of the lineup, Nov 17^th saw the birth of Martin Scorsese, Peter Cook and Belgian ping pong legend Jean-Michel Saive, and it was also the day Russia landed the first remote-controlled lunar module on the moon. Music will be provided by guest DJ Grindi (Club Unlikely), plundering his copious collection of rare soundtracks.

Price is £3 on the door, or free if you were born on the 17th November. Please bring along some proof, and we'll treat you right.

17.11 is part of a season of concerts and events at Ikon Gallery called Autumn Almanac, which features Capsule, Moseley Folk, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group and many others. The 17th is also the opening day of Stephen Earl Rogers' new exhibition at Ikon, What To Do In An Emergency, a series of first aid tableaux featuring various creative organisations from Birmingham.
