In the early 90s Aaron Rose set up a New York shopfront gallery which became a lightning-rod for a loose collective of artists. They were rooted in DIY subcultures like skateboarding, punk and graffiti - Style Wars is credited as a touchstone - and over the next few years they became a dominant and influential force in design, visual arts, film and advertising. Rose was filming the whole journey, and in this colourful group history he gathers together fuzzy archive and candid interviews to explore some of the choices and tensions that creative people face when their fringe endeavours hit the mainstream.
