Flatpack Festival
Film for all the senses

The best new animated shorts from around the world, including Vessela Dantcheva's Anna Blume.

As usual Flatpack’s animation programme is pretty free-ranging in geography and style, from the understated surrealism of Divers in the Rain (Priit and Olga Parn) to the delicate paper design in Going West, Andersen M’s promo for the New Zealand Book Council. There are animated documentaries about synaesthesia (Samantha Moore’s An Eyeful of Sound) and mining (David Quin’s 'Twas a Terrible Hard Work) and we’re delighted that one of our favourite films in Rotterdam has made it to Birmingham: Vessela Dantcheva’s Anna Blume (pictured) is a fittingly odd take on the Kurt Schwitters poem.
