A series of short film postcards, with the filmmaker using their camera to get under the skin of a place and explore their own response to it. Green Path Ahead of You Me Him Her Us Them and All (dir: NaoKo Takahashi) has a mouthful of a title, but is one of those little discoveries that makes wading through short film submissions worthwhile; a deceptively simple present-tense account of the artist’s visit to Palestine. Staying in the Middle East, in Dirty Pictures John Smith somehow finds the region’s history etched on the ceiling of his Bethlehem hotel, while in Bastet Alicja Rogalska stages a sacrificial feast for stray Egyptian cats. Closer to home, Cobra Mist (dir: Emily Richardson) is a beautiful time-lapse portrait of military relics on the Suffolk coast while Afterglow (dir: Connor & Gough) offers a chance to enjoy the eighth wonder that is Spaghetti Junction.
