Chris Paul Daniels in Conversation
Alongside his new installation at A3, Daniels discusses his experimental approach to portraiture and the importance of place in his work.
Chris Paul Daniels has made a series of newly commissioned audio and video portraits of residents and workers from Digbeth and Bordesley Village. Each portrait’s length is dictated by the distance from Birmingham New Street station to the location of the interview, creating collective portraiture through glimpsed lives inhabiting the locations. Daniels' exhibition You Are Here will be open 20, 21, 27, 28, 29 March, 12 – 5pm at A3 Project Space in Digbeth. Commissioned by A3 Project Space, funded by Birmingham City Council's Culture on Your Doorstep.
Chris will be present to screen and discuss his experimental and reflexive approaches to portraiture regarding place formed through a series of projects in Nairobi, Newcastle, China and Birmingham.
