“Like eating chicken curry and chow mein to the sound of a Moog synthesizer”
This was the Telegraph's initial response to Birmingham-shot TV series Gangsters, and it does give some idea of the show's eclectic appeal. Over the course of one pilot and two series, creator Philip Martin mapped out a vision of the city's underworld that might seem fanciful now, but one which had its roots in reality. After screening the opening episode of series one, Philip will be joining us to talk about his unique approach to script research and the new Gangsters novel. Following the Q&A there will also be a chance to pick up a signed copy of the book, published by Candy Jar: www.candy-jar.co.uk/books/gangsters.html
