Resonant piece of Punk TV from Birmingham Film and Video Workshop

Dir: Jonnie Turpie UK 1985, 50 mins Cert: 12

This resonant piece of punk TV from Birmingham Film and Video Workshop was made in collaboration with a group
of unemployed young Telfordians (the Dead Honest Soul Searchers), as they try and find answers to questions about the dole system, wage levels and what the future might hold. Complete with energetic soundtrack and interviews with Ken Livingstone, a millionaire, and a representative of the Basic Incomes Group.

This screening is part of Screening Rights Film Festival, Birmingham’s international festival of social justice film. It also represents a tribute to Alan Fountain (1946 - 2016) who was Channel 4's first Commissioning Editor for Independent Film and Video and a great supporter and funder of BFVW.

This event is also part of Birmingham Heritage Week.

Followed by a panel discussion and drinks reception.
