Juan of the Dead
Cuban zombie movie.
“Juan of the Dead, we kill your beloved ones, how may I help you?” Juan and his mate Lazaro spend most of their time fishing and drinking, but this slacker idyll is interrupted when a horde of zombies take over their Havana neighbourhood. Dismissed by the authorities as a Yankee plot, it quickly becomes clear that the threat is internal and our heroes find a new sense of purpose in wasting the undead. Similarities to certain British zombie comedies may not be coincidental, but Juan of the Dead has its own gung-ho spirit and represents a real change of gear for Cuban cinema.
