La Joie de Vivre

Saturday 23rd April, 2016

Lyttelton Theatre | 11:15

Exceptional musicians and composers from the Conservatoire have each written a new score to accompany a piece of emblematic early French animation.

Part of Birmingham City University and soon to be moving east to a new building, the Conservatoire consistently produces exceptional musicians and composers and we're thrilled to be teaming up again with them this year. Current composition students Rob Roberts, Ryan Probert, Max Gibson, Blanka B. Stachelek, Tom Earl and Ignatius Sokol have each written a new score to accompany a piece of emblematic early French animation. Film choices include Fernand Leger & Dudley Murphy's Ballet Mécanique, and one of the most hypnotically beautiful works of animated art of all time by Berthold Bartosch. Each of the scores will be performed live.
