My Life as a Courgette

Sunday 9th April, 2017

The Electric Cinema Screen 2 | 11:00 - 12:15

A life-affirming and very funny feature about a young boy in a foster home.

Courgette is a young boy experiencing life in a foster home after the unexpected death of his alcoholic mother - his only souvenir of her is an empty beer can. All of his fellow residents are also reeling from some kind of childhood trauma, but in spite of the dark subjects it explores My Life As A Courgette is ultimately life-affirming and very funny. Scripted by Celine Sciamma (Girlhood, Flatpack 2015) and nominated for this year’s Oscars, it’s a film which proves that animation is capable of so much more than just singing animals. Recommended for ages 10+.
