A selection of short films and archive gems celebrating the joys of a night on the tiles. Programme includes Kings Heath-born animator, Joanna Quinn’s awarding-winning 1987 short Girls Night Out about a raucous evening on the town, Karel Reisz’s Momma Don’t Allow, a beautiful Free Cinema snapshot of a London jazz club in the 1950s, and the crowd-pleasing Las Palmas which features the director’s one year old daughter as a drunk middle-aged woman in a Spanish bar. Also featuring a wealth of Birmingham footage provided by the Media Archive for Central England, from jazz dances at Town Hall to hip hop all-dayers at the Hummingbird.
