Part one of two, showcasing some of the best shorts that have been on the international festival circuit over the last twelve months.

Part one of two, showcasing some of the best shorts that have been on the international festival circuit over the last twelve months. Clocking up a fair number of airmiles, we travel from Germany to Canada, via Sweden, Norway and Ireland, presenting Jack O'Shea’s multi-award winning eerie debut animated short, A Coat Made Dark, and Tim Ellrich’s bittersweet family comedy The Bathtub which recently won the Special Jury Prize at Clermont-Ferrand.

 

The Bathtub Dir: Tim Ellrich (Germany/Austria 2015 – 13 mins) Three brothers try to dive back into their childhood by reenacting an old family picture.

Holland, Man – European premiere Dir: Aaron Zeghers (Canada 2015 – 20 mins) As two growing years pass, Don Zeghers phases out his multi-generational family farm. With experimental photography on Super 8, 16mm and digital mediums, his son follows this life change and the dissolution of the family farm.

A Coat Made Dark Dir: Jack O'Shea (Ireland 2015 – 10 mins) Two burglars strike it rich after stealing a mysterious coat with pockets containing an impossible fortune.

Small Talk Dir: Even Hafnor, Lisa Brooke Hansen (Sweden 2015 – 20 mins) We follow the Dvergsnes family from Kristiansand, Norway, through three events that took place during the fall and winter of 2014.

El Hueco Dir: Germán Tejada, Daniel Martin Rodriguez (Peru 2015 14 mins) Robert saves enough money to buy the grave next to where his love is buried, but soon finds out that it has been sold to someone else. Robert's jealousy will take him to the extremes in his attempt to spend eternity with Yenni.

 

Pick 'n' Mix 2 takes place Friday 22nd at 5.30pm.
