The Electric Cinema Screen 2 | 23:00

Dir: José R. Larraz UK 1974, 94 mins Cert: 15

Starring Angela Pleasance (Donald’s daughter), this chilling and long forgotten British horror film from the 70s has duly received a restoration from the BFI.

Pleasance plays the role of Helen, a young woman living in an English country mansion, whose friend Anne (Lorna Heilbron) comes to stay. Before too long, Anne discovers Helen is unwell, and at the same time some rather curiously odd things begin to happen on the estate. When groundsman Brady sticks his oar in, the plot only gets thicker.

A restrained, subtly unnerving, and gripping film with erotic undertones, Symptoms is a must-see for horror fans.

This is a special preview screening of an imminent BFI release, following the rediscovery  and restoration of the original negatives, previously thought lost. The screening will be introduced by author Pete Tombs and BFI DVD Producer James Blackford. Symptoms is released on BFI DVD/Blu-ray on Monday 25 April.
