Take Me High + Brumburger

Saturday 8th April, 2017

Regency Wharf | 17:00 - 19:00

Another chance to marvel at this Cliff Richard canal & burger themed oddity.

As an induction video for those newly arrived in Birmingham, you could do a lot worse than this neglected musical oddity - even if the geography has changed a bit since 1973. It’s the tale of a self-absorbed banker (Cliff Richard) who discovers the earthy charms of the second city, buys himself a narrowboat, and invents the Brumburger. While we’ll agree with Catherine O’Flynn that it’s not cinematic perfection, you do have to marvel that the thing got made at all.

Price of admission includes your own Brumburger, lovingly created by the Original Patty Men, and when the credits roll you can gaze across the water at the very spot where Cliff’s floating bachelor-pad once sat.

Please note that this is an outdoor screening, and will go ahead rain or shine.

Dir: David Askey UK 1974, 90 mins
