The 1000 Eyes of Dr Maddin + The Forbidden Room

“When I’ve got a camera in my hand, I’m a pagan.”
Following the irrepressible Guy Maddin as he embarks on his Seances project at the Louvre, while checking in with influences and peers including the Quays, Isabella Rossellini and John Waters, this one-hour portrait is an engaging primer on one of cinema’s most distinctive CVs. Winnipeg’s finest auteur has been a guiding light for Flatpack for some years, so we’re delighted to present the UK premiere of 1000 Eyes.
This is also a prime opportunity to revisit Maddin’s most recent feature The Forbidden Room. His delirious anthology of tales, co-directed by Evan Johnson, was partly shot during the Louvre residency and captures the polymorphous perversity of his early shorts on a grand scale.
