The Bargee
“The Casanova of the canals… A bird in every lock”
Harry H Corbett - better known as Steptoe the younger - is a bargee who ferries boats and goods up and down the Grand Union canal, wooing various women while his mate Ronnie Barker keeps an eye on the tiller. Though the sexual politics may be prehistoric there’s plenty to enjoy about this broad 60s comedy, including a string of familiar character actors (Richard Briers, Derek Nimmo, Eric Sykes, etc.) and some bucolic canalside locations.
