The Last Laugh
A landmark silent film, and one that regularly finds its way into ‘greatest films’ lists.
The first of two Murnau films over the weekend (see Nosferatu) sees Emil Jannings playing an aging doorman, who gets fired from his prestigious job at a luxurious Hotel, and is then forced to face the scorn of his friends, neighbours and society. A landmark silent film, and one that regularly finds its way into ‘greatest films’ lists.
Part of Film Bug, across Colmore Business District from 20-23 March.
