(dir: Philip Donnellan, UK 1958, 30 mins) A snapshot of a vanishing world, this BBC documentary follows Cradley Heath character Joe Mallen through a typical weekend as he goes from from chain-bashing to whippet-racing with plenty of songs along the way. (ATV Prods, UK 1969, 30 mins) A broader survey of Black Country history and folklore, narrated by Gwyn Richards. Includes a ruined abbey in Halesowen, a musical pub in Bradley, and houses in Tipton still waiting for the advent of electricity.
Screenings take place every half an hour between 11am and 4pm in the BCLM visitor reception, and are free to enter.
