Diamantino
Diamantino is a simple-minded and big-hearted football star, the pride of his family and his country.
The day he realises there is a world beyond the pitch, the self-obsessed prodigy loses his magic, fails to score during a crucial match and incurs the wrath of his greedy twin sisters. It’s hard to describe such an unclassifiable debut, one that borrows from fairy tales as well as sci-fi, while tackling subjects as varied as the entertainment industry and the cult of celebrity, nationalism and Europe’s political crisis... not forgetting cloning and gender fluidity! Never preachy, always playful, this satirical comedy is a tour de force in which grotesque comes close to sublime.
