An evening of early abstract films with live jazz accompaniment presented by Fizzle and Flatpack.

After the success of Colour Coded back in November, we’ve once again joined forces with Fizzle (one of Birmingham’s best jazz nights) for another evening of live scores, teaming up improv jazz musicians with short films. Breathing new life into a selection of classic shorts, the theme for the evening is abstraction, exploring the American short film archive from the early part of the 20th century. With films by the early pioneers such as cubist artist Fernand Léger right through to Busby Berkeley, you can expect an eclectic mix of weird and wonderful stuff. Providing the new scores are the following musicians:

Bruce Coates - solo saxophones

Stella Roberts - solo piano/keyboards

Alicia Gardener-Trejo - bass clarinet/flute

Jason Singh - electronics/beatboxing/live sampling

Doors 7:30pm / Start 8pm.

Please note that capacity is limited. To avoid disappointment, we recommend you pre-book for this event.
