Mindhorn is a long-forgotten 80s detective drama about a private detective on the Isle of Man with a bionic eye-patch.

Mindhorn is a long-forgotten 80s detective drama about a private detective on the Isle of Man with a bionic eye-patch - a role which turned out to be the high point for washed-up actor Richard Thorncroft (Julian Barratt). But now a real-life Mindhorn-obsessed serial killer is on the loose, and only one man can foil him…

The synopsis alone would be enough to have us running for the cinema to be honest. When you also factor in the talent involved (Steve Coogan, Andrea Riseborough, acclaimed theatre director Sean Foley) and the presence of co-creator Julian Barratt in his first big-screen starring role, satisfaction is guaranteed. Mindhorn is manna from heaven for anyone who grew up on Bergerac or Knight Rider, but it also stands on its own as an engagingly daft piece of character comedy.
