Space Odysseys

There have been too many brilliant young musicians and composers to have come out of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and performed at Flatpack to mention, but we can add a host of names to that ever-expanding list after this Interstellar audiovisual adventure.

50 years on from the first person walking on the moon, we thought we’d honour that milestone and task this year’s crop of RBC composers with the challenge of writing and performing new scores to four short films exploring the theme of ‘space’.

Featuring classics by Walerian Borowczyk & Chris Marker and Charles and Ray Eames, there’s also contemporary fare, including winner of the Flatpack 2018 Short Film Award, Réka Bucsi’s mind-blowing Solar Walk.

Expect all manner of sonic approaches to these otherworldly live scores.
