Last year was our tenth birthday, and the submissions we received reflected the gamut of eclectic and brilliant films that made their way up onto our screens over the past decade - it’s been quite a journey!

In particular, our programme of shorts celebrates an enormous variety of exceptional filmmaking from experimental animation and beyond, the breadth and scope of which is open and limitless. We’re looking for stuff that pushes boundaries. Don’t feel restrained – harness the full potential of your creative ideas, and if your film doesn’t quite fit into a traditional screening format, get in touch and tell us about it, and we’ll let you know whether it’s suitable to submit: submissions@flatpackfestival.org.uk.

There are five awards to be won, and a £1000 prize for the winner of the Short Film Award. If you’re in it to win it you can take inspiration from previous festivals: 2016, 2015, 2014 and 2013. All successful submissions will be included in the programme of Flatpack no.11, which runs from 4-9 April 2017.

Submissions need to be under twenty minutes and viewable online. For more details, and to submit, click here. And above all else, please, continue to surprise us…

Here's a taster of some of our previous winners...
