Flatpack at City of Colours

Saturday 18th June, 2016

The Custard Factory | 15:00

After a sun-kissed launch in 2014, City of Colours returns in June to plaster Digbeth with amazing street art and music. They'll also be screening films in the Mockingbird theatre, including a shorts programme pieced together by Flatpack...

From wooden murals on houses and animated figures prowling through cities, to exploding paint bottles in disused buildings, this selection of short films gathers street artists from all over the world, exploring different strategies for bringing colour and life to the built environment. Birmingham’s very own Lucy MacLauchlan (creator of the birds on the recently-departed Central Library) features in Tacit (dir: Matt Watkins), which documents a trip between Birmingham and Walsall demonstrating her improvised painting process, while Miss Me: The Artful Vandal (dir: Mohammad Gorjestani) is a short doc about a Montreal-based social activist who has been making waves in Canada as she explores the role street art can play in empowerment and social action.

Running time: 50 minutes approx. Showing at 3pm and 6pm on Saturday 18 June in the Mockingbird Theatre at the Custard Factory.
