Just Eat It + Junk Food Cafe
In a world restricted by expiry dates, how much food do we waste in the name of perfection?
Concerned by a growing epidemic of food waste, two Vancouver-based filmmakers set themselves the challenge of living entirely on discarded food for a year. Delving deep into our obsession with expiry dates and perfect bananas, Just Eat It is a thought-provoking journey that will have you questioning the contents of your own fridge.
This screening is presented in association with Birmingham’s Real Junk Food Project, a volunteer-run scheme delivering pop-up cafes and ‘Freegan boxes’ across the city. Tonight’s menu is made entirely from food intercepted on its way to the bin, and is offered on a pay-as-you-feel basis.
