Dir: Quentin Tarantino
USA 2003, 112 mins
Beatrix Kiddo is the deadliest assassin in the world. Formerly a member of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, she sets out on a quest to murder Bill, her former lover whose jealous purge at her wedding rehearsal put her in a coma for 4 years. Kill Bill vol.1 was hailed an instant classic upon its release and pushed director Quentin Tarantino’s limits when it came to making action films. Heavily inspired by Japanese samurai revenge films, Kung Fu movies, the exploitation genre and spaghetti westerns, Tarantino synthesised these influences into a cult movie fusion about justice, redemption and kicking ass. For this special screening at Chinatown’s newly refurbished Huan Gate, expect an immersive Kill Bill experience with Chinese finger food* and appropriate tunes.
