Flatpack Festival
Film for all the senses

The Bigger Picture Project

Thursday 21st April, 2016

BCU Parkside Gallery | 13:30

Here we present a diverse range of student work, showcasing filmmaking talent and creating a raw insight into a range of cultures, ideas and issues from around the world.

Given carte blanche to make what they like, access to top-spec kit, no paying commissioner on their back insisting on “one or two minor changes”, it’s no wonder student films make up large proportions of international short film festival programmes. Here we present a diverse range of student work, showcasing filmmaking talent and providing a raw insight into a range of cultures, ideas and social issues from around the world. Presenting a wide range of filmmaking styles; documentaries, fiction, and animation from nine different countries, there is most certainly something in here for everyone. Topics touched upon include re-locating, health, LGBT and more. Significantly, not only is the content made by students, but the programme has been curated by Birmingham City University students, Dilek Osman and Serena Patel.
