Bombin' + Q&A
"If you can't say it, spray it!" - Brim Fuentes
Filmmaker Dick Fontaine followed up New York documentary Beat This! with the UK equivalent - arguably the first documentary about the UK hip hop scene, and massively influential when it first screened on Channel 4. Amongst the beats, breaking and bombing you can find fresh-faced tracksuited youths including Goldie and Massive Attack's 3D working on a spray-can mural in Birmingham's Manzoni Gardens, along with footage of one of the early Wild Bunch parties in Bristol.
This screening is presented in partnership with the B-Side Hip Hop Festival, and will be followed by a Q&A with Hanifa McQueen Hudson - aka B-Girl Bubbles - who features in the film.
We are also partnering with Ghost Streets, who are hosting a Graffiti Art Walk along the Digbeth canal at 5pm, as part of Junction's programme of arts activities taking place on and around the canal between April and June 2019.
