It’s not everyday you come across a post-apocalyptic, surrealist science-fiction romance from Ethiopia, but if this charming and funny film is anything to go by there may be more to come.

It’s not everyday you come across a post-apocalyptic, surrealist science-fiction romance from Ethiopia, but if this charming and funny film is anything to go by there may be more to come. Gagano, our diminutive superman-hero, embarks on an epic journey that takes him across the Ethiopian landscape in search of a way to board the hovering spacecraft that for years has been a landmark in the skies. Armed with Michael Jackson merchandise to help him barter his way along, he encounters all sorts of characters he has to overcome including a witch, Santa Claus and some second-generation Nazis.

Preceding the feature is the offbeat 2013 short Chigger Ale which also features the superb Daniel Tadesse in the leading role.
