Film Camp
We launched Film Camp back in 2017 - an annual one-day training event exploring some of the latest innovations in cinema exhibition.
Over the last few years we’ve heard from some really inspiring speakers, watched some great films and very much enjoyed meeting exhibitors from across the Midlands. After a brief hiatus, Film Camp is back! Presented by Film Hub Midlands, part of BFI’s Film Audience Network.
This year’s Film Camp will take place in Birmingham, will once again gather together film exhibitors from across the Midlands to share their wealth of experience as well as discuss new models and ways of thinking. The day is open to anyone interested in showing films - from large-scale exhibitors to community cinema organisers and student film groups.
2022 Activities will include:
Expanded Cinema: Film and then some
Anthony & Teanne Andrews from We Are Parable give their top tips on how to make your screening ‘unmissable’, followed by a chance to explore and play at the Animation Station (more info below!)
Good Vibrations: How immersive technology is creating access for all
SubPac technology (which uses an immersive tactile audio system) is giving audiences the opportunity to experience film in a whole new way. Hear from the Arts and Wellbeing team at Sense - the National charity for people living with complex disabilities - to learn more about their inclusive approach and how they’re using SubPacs to enable audiences with complex disabilities to experience film. Plus - have a go yourself!
Sustainability: How to boost your earned income
How do we future-proof our community cinemas? From sponsorship to bake sales, we hear from a range of community exhibitors who have successfully boosted their bottom line. This session is in partnership with Cinema For All.
