Flatpack Monthly: Sunlight + Q&A with Nina Conti and Shenoah Allen
"It is perhaps an unexpected development that one of the most erotic moments in cinema this year is a frottage scene involving a woman half-dressed as a monkey. " - the Guardian
Far from your run of the mill romantic comedy, British comedian Nina Conti's feature debut is a darkly funny love story between a man and a woman who doesn’t want to come out of a monkey suit.
Suicidal radio host Roy (played by co-writer Shenoah Allen) ends up on an unlikely road trip with Jane (Conti), who prefers to be addressed as her alter ego, "Monkey".
On the run from their pasts and headed for a bright new future, the pair take us on a journey that's equal parts bizarre, moving and very funny.
We'll be joined by Nina Conti and Shenoah Allen for a Q&A after the film.
This screening is part of Flatpack's monthly residency at The Mockingbird where you can expect all manner of films – previews, rediscovered gems, and under-the-radar curiosities you won't find anywhere else.
