Soho Road Cinema Walk

As part of the Wonderland project launched in 2022, Flatpack have been delving into all sorts of neighbourhood cinema stories.

We now invite you to take a stroll down one of Birmingham's busiest and most diverse thoroughfares to discover the untold tales of Handsworth's lost picturehouses - from silent movies to 70s Bollywood, from latenight blaxploitation to kung fu double-bills. Each walker will receive a free copy of the Wonderland catalogue commemorating last year's exhibition at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery.

The Soho Road Cinema Walk is led by Garry Stewart (Black Heritage Walks) and will begin outside the entrance of the Lidl supermarket at 397 Soho Road. The walk will last approximately 90 minutes, and finish at the Hockley Circus. Both the start and finish are served by the number 74 bus, and they're also 10 minutes walk from the West Midlands Metro.
