The second in a series of collaborations between the Department of Film and Television Studies, the Centre for Television Histories and the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, 2Tone: Lives and Legacies – 2Tone and Rock Against Racism focuses on the rise of 2Tone music in the city in the late seventies and early eighties and puts this in the context of the wider Rock Against Racism movement.

Rudies Come Back, Or the Rise and Rise of 2Tone (BBC2, 12/3/80, 40 mins), a wonderful television documentary from the BBC archive about Coventry’s 2Tone scene.
White Riot (2019, 84 mins) Rubika Shah’s award-winning film charting a vital national protest movement, Rock Against Racism (RAR).

At the event audiences will be joined by award winning author and musician Daniel Rachel, Jeff Perks (director of Rudies Come Back, Or the Rise and Rise of 2Tone) plus other exciting guests (TBC).

This screening is part of the 2 Tone: Lives & Legacies exhibition at the Herbert Art Gallery.
