To kick off this three-day festival exploring different aspects of spirituality on film, 7 inch cinema will be presenting an evening of short film and performance in the Custard Factory theatre. This is an opportunity for us to stretch out and show some more contemplative, less noisy work. Among the provisional names are Len Lye, Quay brothers and Miranda Pennell's Human Radio (pictured), along with local contributors including Chrispugg Praveen and James Eastope.

We can confirm that we'll be screening In Absentia, a unique encounter between the Brothers Quay and Karlheinz Stockhausen. DJs in the Kitchen will be Pip, Jerry and Rafiki (Jibbering), and there will also be a special acoustic set/slideshow by Ross Spencer.

Elsewhere in the Breathe festival you can find Kiwi hit Whale Rider, Pasolini's Gospel According to St Matthew, a selection of Stan Brakhage's work and a pagan climax courtesy of The Wicker Man.
