"There be superior persons who have yet to acquire a liking for animated photographs, while yet another class stay away because they have heard (or seen) at country fairs and mops, that certain of the pictures are not always on good taste. Mr. Jeffs doubtless knows of the existence of such people; indeed he must have frequently lured some of them into his entertainments by means of his attractive announcements and spirited catering, and have been gratified by their confessions of surprise at the artistic, unobjectionable and entertaining quality of the fare set before them. He often rejects as unsuited for his patrons, who include a large number of ladies and children, many debatable pictures which are exhibited unhesitatingly at other places of amusement. The result of this watchful policy, is that ministers, school committees, masters and mistresses, and people of refined and sensitive judgment visit and recommend the New Century Pictures".
