A few years ago obituaries were being written for puppet animation as the digital wave swept through film production, but still it looks to be going strong thanks to the enthusiasm of filmmakers like Tim Burton and Wes Anderson. One of the standard-bearers for the form is Cheshire-based puppet-makers Mackinnon and Saunders, and the miniature worlds of The Corpse Bride and Fantastic Mr Fox could not have been created without their expertise and nimble fingers.
