Big Picture Festival '23
Thursday 25th May—Sunday 28th May, 2023
Please check the age rating for each film before attending with children.
Live & Local’s Big Picture film festival is back for 2023, popping up in venues across Stratford-upon-Avon and surrounding districts with a programme of short films from local filmmakers and international and independent feature films.
This year's theme is 'One Planet - Many Stories' so expect adventures to free fairies, a battle for artistic freedom, a family road trip and rare animals in their wild habitats.
CineCov’s Brian Harley has curated this year's programme, featuring outstanding films from Midlands based filmmakers including Shona Auerbach's new film Rudy and Paul Daly's Mirrors. Both filmmakers will appear for Q&As following the screenings of their films.
Other highlights include the charming documentary A Bunch of Amateurs by director Kim Hopkins, who tells the story of Bradford Movie Makers, one of the oldest amateur filmmaking clubs in the world. The festival will also screen Hit the Road, the acclaimed Iranian road comedy-drama from Panah Panahi.
The festival's short film competition also returns. Nominated films are yet to be announced but will be screened at the festival and will also be available to watch on the Live & Local website for ticketholders. The short film competition is a particularly special strand of the Big Picture Festival because this is where emergent local talent can be discovered and encouraged.
The festival operates on a pay-what-you-can basis so there is no financial barrier to attend.
