Colour Box Explorer Day

This year the mac is home to our Colour Box day, with various activities and installations for young people scattered all over the building.

Make yourself a pair of binoculars, grab a map and explore what’s on offer including a keyboard that projects images, oversized optical toys, an interactive audiovisual dome, green screen madness, and plenty of crafting. And don’t forget about our compered film screenings (Trailblazers & Outside the Box), Moominvalley, and the Trash Island animation workshops.

Experience life in front of the camera as Colour Box Explorers. We will also be looking for illustrators to create the Colour Box World our Green Screeners inhabit, so if acting isn’t for you, we need your creativity behind the scenes.

Brothers Romain and Florent Bodart created the Pianographe using the body of a Nektar 49 keyboard, specialist software and a projector. As you play, every note projects a moving image. It’s a piano, but not as you know it...

Find the Colour Box Craft Crew in the Foyer. Create and customise everything from goggles, binoculars and adventure flags for your journey around MAC. Grab a map and spot the giant Colour Boxes. Stick a flag in each one and get your Colour Box Passport stamped.

Giant Kaleidoscope & Zoetrope - 11:00 - 17:00
Get to grips with a giant kaleidoscope and bring it to life as you create your own colourful patterns and objects, and make your own animations with a huge zoetrope.
