This festival Special Director’s cut of the docudrama portrait of Delia Derbyshire explores the idea that this extraordinary composer herself lived outside of time and space.

Delia’s work is inextricably bound up with the worlds of visual art and film, and she composed music for more than 200 radio and TV shows. She is perhaps best known for her electronic arrangement of the theme music to the BBC’s Doctor Who, but her body of works ranges from compositions for art films with Yoko Ono to creating sound effects for contemporary theatre.

Artist Cosey Fanni Tutti has constructed a soundtrack of samples from Delia’s lost attic tapes that were discovered after her death. This is playfully interwoven with Delia’s own music, interviews with her collaborators and dramatisations, honouring the BBC Radiophonic Workshops’ comper’s own questing spirit.

Caroline Catz who wrote, directed and plays Delia in the film will be involved in a special panel Q&A with soundtrack composer Cosey Fanni Tutti.

Presented by CineCov and Deliaphonic.
