What does it mean to walk like a Surrealist in Birmingham? To complement the first public screening of Time Flower in over 70 years, filmmaker Andy Howlett has devised a way of exploring sites of Surrealist resonance in the city. The act of walking has always been central to the Surrealist project, deployed as a means to tap into a city’s unconscious and reveal the magic in the everyday. Using objects found in junk shops and taking inspiration from Desmond Morris’s rediscovered film, Howlett introduces the concept of ‘dream talismans’ for this oneiric exploration of Balsall Heath and Edgbaston.
Please note: the walk on Sunday will finish at Calthorpe Park, not in the city centre.
