A short film, a live performance piece, and a reading make up this triple bill on the theme of paternity.

Celebrated Canadian filmmaker Mike Hoolboom kicks things off with his short, 27 Thoughts About My Father - a contemplative film made up of vignettes exploring memories of his late dad.

Gareth Courage’s brand new performance piece 469 DOF - Europe Through the Windscreen gets its world premiere. Using various ephemera from his father’s trips to Europe in the early 1960s in his Austin Mini, the piece COMBINES elements of sound, motion graphics and film to reflect and explore aspects of Birmingham’s social and industrial heritage whilst also revealing timely insights into early European integration.

And writer and academic Caleb Klaces reads from his forthcoming debut novel Fatherhood (Prototype Publishing) which follows the startling intimacies and tender rhythms of the relationship between a father and an infant daughter. A verse fiction about hamsters, natural disasters and parental love, it is an experiment in rewriting masculinity.
