On Halloween night, check-in to the Overlook Hotel (well, Birmingham Botanical Gardens) for a hauntingly glamorous tribute to one of cinema’s most chilling masterpieces.
Before our special screening of Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, step into the Gardens’ elegant event suites to enjoy a pre-show soirée filled with candlelit ambience and eerie elegance.
As well as access to the exclusive screening and soirée, your ticket includes a special Redrum punch on arrival and a chance to be a part of a special recreation of the iconic Overlook Hotel photo from the film.
Dress code
Very much encouraged but not compulsory: ballroom chic, checked shirts, twinning, winter jumpers – or come as you are.
What to expect on the night:
The Overlook Hotel Soirée: 18:30 – 20:30
Join us for a night of eerie elegance, hosted in our stunning Garden Suite and Palm Bar (our Gold Room for the evening!) There will be themed cocktails and a bar menu available, as well as food & drink on the Terrace. Just before the screening, we will recreate the Overlook Hotel group photo which will be digitally sent to guests after the event.
The Shining Film Screening: 20:30 – 23:00
Take your seat in our atmospheric Grade II-listed Terrace Suite, where The Shining unfolds in all its creeping intensity. One of cinema’s most iconic horror films, seen in an unforgettable setting. Capacity is limited. Join us for a chilling evening of suspense, surreal glamour and one very famous hotel.

FAQs
What should I bring with me?
Please bring your booking confirmation ticket with you for admission purposes. This can be shown on your mobile phone. All guests listed on your ticket must arrive together. This is an indoor screening so chairs are not required.
Can I explore the gardens?
No, the gardens will be closed for this event, with the exception of the outdoor terrace.
How do I get there?
Botanical Gardens is easily accessible by bus, tram (8 minute walk) or train (20 minute walk). We advise travel via public transport where possible, however there is a car park at the Botanical Gardens for those who are driving, which is available on a first come first served basis.

What time does it start?
Doors open at 6.30pm, with the film starting around 8.30pm. Before the film there will be a special immersive party set within the world of the film, ending with an opportunity to take part in a recreation of the iconic 1921 photo from the film.
What time does it finish?
The event is expected to finish around 11pm.
Are pets allowed?
Only assistance animals are allowed access to the site.
Is it suitable for children?
The film and the soirée are not suitable for children. This film is rated 18, meaning it is suitable for ages 18 and over. Please note, anyone under the age of 18 will not be allowed entry.
Can I smoke at the event?
No. This site is strictly non-smoking and no vaping.
