Due to unforeseen circumstances we’re not able to go ahead with Imaginary Friends at Flatpack 2023. We’re very disappointed to cancel the event, and will be looking to reschedule for Flatpack 2024. Portuguese director and artist Rita Barbosa pulls back the curtain on the magic of cinema sound design in Imaginary Friends, exploring, challenging and completely reinventing the cinema experience in ways that might just alter your filmgoing forever.

ASMR aplenty, this expanded film performance features Foley artists creating the sounds live alongside the sights on screen, utilising all manner of weird and wonderful bric-a-brac. Imaginary Friends promises to play with our perceptions and inner emotions, whilst showing us that sometimes all there is behind the curtain is more magic.
