Composer and muso Terry Riley inspired everyone from Tubular Bells’ Mike Oldfield and The Who’s Pete Townsend back in the day, to today’s minimalist musical movement.

In C, his seminal work, was originally composed in 1964 and considered a game changer with its steady pulse beats, mixed musical modules and loose improvisation.

At this year’s festival, In C will be treated to a live audio-visual rendering, performed by an ensemble from France. Julien Sénélas and Jérôme Vassereau are behind the 2 modular synthesisers (there’s your 11 oscillators) whilst a live graphic interpretation of the OG score by Soia (comprising your 53 shapes) provides the ocular inspiration.
