Inspired by 2 novellas written by J.-H. Rosny, the joint pseudonym of the Boex brothers,* Last Things* is the kind of film where the more you understand, the less consequential you feel. And that’s exactly the point.

More chin-stroking follows the film as artist Stuart Whipps asks: is a stone alive? What would it mean for a stone to be diseased? And in that case, could it be cured? A Foot, A Mouth, A Hundred Billion Stars teases out a series of interconnected histories, stories and possible futures, featuring all manner of artefacts from the Lapworth Museum of Geology archive.
