The Magic Cinema: A Ten Year Retrospective

For ten years now The Magic Cinema has been a pillar of Birmingham’s underground film scene.

It all began in 2013 with a call for submissions for a new short film night in Ort Cafe, Balsall Heath. Always eclectic, always unpredictable, The Magic Cinema continues to wow audiences with the sheer level of invention and creativity offered up. To celebrate their tenth birthday, they have put together a bumper five hour retrospective programme of some of the most memorable submissions from over the years.

Expect everything from music videos, documentaries, dramas, home movies, video essays, archive cut-ups, occult noise experiments, stop-motion moss animation, medieval hip-hopera, interdimensional horse-beings, obsessive sneeze counting, ruminations on white paint spills and much, much more.
