While Mockingbird Screen 2 is accessible by wheelchair, there is currently no access to the disabled toilet from this screen.
A festival sensation that started its career at Cannes and Toronto Film Festival, Neptune Frost is described as an “afrofuturistic sci-fi musical”, but its defiantly original tone makes it pretty hard to label.
Matalusa, a coltan miner, and Neptune, an intersex hacker, are two runaways mysteriously connected by music and dreams. Fleeing oppressive conditions and chased by authorities, they join an anti-colonialist hacker collective in the hilltops of Burundi. The nonlinear story moves freely between genres, times and languages (Swahili, English and French - to name a few), and is punctuated by electrifying dance performances and catchy musical interludes. Addressing burning issues such as capitalism and exploitation, the film – imagined and crafted by multidisciplinary artists Saul Williams and Anisia Uzeyman – is a poetic journey that bursts with visual ideas, starting with the amazing costumes made of recycled electronic waste.
