Spotlight on StaffordshireOutdoor Film

Saturday Cinema is a new one day community film festival taking place outdoors in Stapenhill Hollows.

The jampacked programme of workshops and screenings explores the earth and the environment in different ways. Browse the full programme below, and don't forget to bring along a blanket or chair on the day.

2-3pm: Colour Box: Trains, Planes & Automobiles
Kick things off with our DIY Family Drive-in. Build your own cars from scrap materials and park up in our drive-in movie theatre for a selection of animated adventures and heart-warming tales including My Mum is an Airplane, The Elephant and the Bicycle and Subway Train.

2-5pm: Zero Emissions Drive-in (Suitable for all ages - drop-in)
A fun and interactive craft based workshop where participants make their own ‘zero emissions’ cardboard cars and then park up for a screening of Colour Box shorts at the ‘drive-in’ cinema.

2-5pm: Clay Mates (Suitable for all ages - drop-in)
Clay making workshop exploring all things nature with Burton-based ceramicist Joanna Dawidowska. Clay making is a lot easier than you’d think, not to mention it’s a boatload of fun for all the family.

2-5pm: Colour Me Happy (Suitable for all ages - drop-in)
The drawing and colouring station will be open for children and families to drop in and draw or colour their favourite film characters.

2-5pm: RSPB Bird Walk (Suitable for all ages)
Join artist and nature lover Olivia James for this interactive workshop and bird walk. Learn about the different birds that nest in the trees of the hollows and how we can look after them.

3-4.50pm: Cars (2006) PG
On the way to the biggest race of his life, a hotshot rookie race car gets stranded in a rundown town and learns that winning isn’t everything in life.

4.50-5.50pm: Pocket Film Festival Presents: Shorts for Kids!
A selection of fun family-friendly short films themed around the environment curated by the team behind Pocket Film Festival.

6-8pm: Top Gun: Maverick (2022) 12A
