STOKE SCREEN PRESENTS: The African Queen

Stoke Screen Film Club is back for its eighth season, offering audiences another marvellous mix of international titles and Brit-flicks.

In East Africa during WWI a gin-swilling Canadian riverboat captain is persuaded by a strait-laced English missionary to undertake a trip up a treacherous river and use his boat to attack a German gunship. Humphrey Bogart won his only Oscar for his role in this film opposite Katharine Hepburn. The pair's chemistry is outstanding with masterful direction from Hollywood titan John Huston.
